How to add Point Clouds in ProStructures CONNECT Edition

    Product(s): ProStructures CONNECT Edition
    Version(s): CONNECT Edition (10.XX.00.XX)
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Utilities
    Subarea: Utilities / Import
Original Author: Alistair Lobo, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

In complex modelling projects, there may be requirements to attach or reference geospatial data or land terrain profiles or scanned data points of structures. This data is primarily captured by 3-D scanners in the form of Point Cloud data. This Point cloud data can be easily assimilated or attached to your ProStructures model by using the Point Clouds tool.

This document will guide you on how to attach Point Cloud data to your ProStructures model.

    Method

    1) While in the model, go to Utilities > References > Point Clouds.

    2) Now in the Point Clouds tool box, go to File > Attach.

    3) You then need to select the file type of the Point Cloud data and the file. Then Open.

    4) This will now open the convert the file to a POD format. You need to give a file name and Save.

    5) The Point Cloud is now attached to your model.

In this manner, one can attach Point Cloud data of various available formats to a ProStructures model.
