    Overview

While creating connections for steel structures, you may need to place special kind of bolts other than the ones already available in the database. In ProSteel, you can create a new bolt style and also control its properties to be displayed in the partlist.

This document will guide you on how to create a new bolt style and recall the same in the future.

    Method

    1) Select the ‘Bolts’ tool from Steel > Home > Steel Placement.

    2) In the ‘Bolts’ dialog box, you need to select the ‘Sort’ tab and click on ‘New Style’.

    3) This will then prompt you to type in a name for your new Bolt style and then say OK.

    4) After this, in the ‘Bolt Style’ you need to select the newly created style and then add the bolt parts as you require. The parts when selected will update in the preview section on the right hand side of the dialog box.

    5) On ticking on the parts, the corresponding buttons will get enabled. Here you can select a data file & table for this to get saved in; also, you can choose the material.

In this way you can define these for all the parts you have ticked on in the check boxes.

NOTE - Only the buttons corresponding to the selected parts will be enabled, others would be grey-ed out.

    6) Lastly you need to choose the ‘Edit Bolt Data’ (which is the bolt definition) where in you can then set the bolt data as a whole. After setting all the parameters as per your requirement, click OK.

    7) Now select the ‘Save current settings of this bolt style…’ option. And your new bolt style is created and ready to be used for connection.

In this way one can create a new Bolt Style and set various parameters for the same to appear in the partlist as well.
