    Creation of Haunch Connections

    Product(s): ProSteel
    Version(s): CONNECT Edition (10.XX.00.XX)
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Modelling
    Subarea: Steel Connections
Original Author: Alistair Lobo, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

In the modelling phase, you may need to provide connections to resist the moments that are applied at the column beam junction to resist the lateral loads. ProSteel allows you to use the haunch connections for this, with full parametric control over the haunch connection layout.

    Method

    1) Focus on the part of your model where you want to create & insert the haunch connection.

    2) Navigate and click on Home > Steel Connections > Haunch.

    3) This will prompt you to first identify the shape for haunch connection and then click on the supporting column.

    4) The haunch connection will then get created and the Haunch dialog box will appear.

    5) Here, in the Dimensions tab, you can tailor the connection according to your requirement. You can the assign it classifications  of level, description and so on, in the Assignments tab.

    6) Once you are done, say OK. You can also save these settings as a template and recall the same as and when required.

In this manner, you can create and insert haunch connections at various instances while modelling steel structures.
