Manual insertion of Position Flags in 2D drawing

    Product(s): ProStructures, ProSteel
    Version(s): CONNECT Edition (10.XX.00.XX)
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Drawing / Reporting
    Subarea: Positioning
Original Author: Alistair Lobo, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

When generating and inserting the 2D drawings, you may need to add position flags for parts of main parts, groups or sub parts, that you may have skipped during the detailing procedure in the 2D Detail Center. You can still insert the position flags after your drawing has been inserted by the Positioning tool. You can also create a flag with your custom data to display excluding the position numbers.

This document will guide you on how to insert position manually after you have already created a 2D drawing and inserted the same.

    Method

Enter methods to resolve in this section.
    1) Generate a 2D drawing via the 2D Detail Center and insert the same in a file.

    2) Now, click on Steel > Drawing Production > Positioning.

    3) In the Positionflags and Positioning dialog box, click on the Insert tab.

    4) With the Set Default Styles button, you can set up the Position Flag styles for Single Parts, Groups, Sub groups, Assemblies and others. Once you are done setting up the styles, click on OK.

    5) Now, with the Position Flag Style button you can set up alphabetical or alphanumerical type of positioning.

    6) Lastly, with the Reset Position Numbers, one can set the position numbers to standard values.

    7) Also, there are options available to use the Shipping number instead of the Position Number, Register the Position Number in the data of the PS Properties of the part & also to set the scale of the resulting Position Flag.

    8) At the bottom section of the dialog box, you have options for placing of position flags as per the styles you have set up for the single parts, groups, assemblies, etc.

    9) After selecting anyone of the above options, you just need to click on the part in your 2D drawing for identifying it, and just drag the position flag to a location / position of your choice.

In this manner, you can manually attach position flags for single parts, groups, sub parts and also a flag containing any custom data, as per your convenience.
