We are pleased to announce that ProStructures CONNECT Edition Update 4 (10.04.00.47) is now available on Software Downloads and for update through the CONNECTION Client.
A Select Group Toggle was added to PSToggles Toolbox. Turning it on will allow to select a whole group by selecting one of the objects that is a member of that group. When working with generated details, it will allow to toggle between selecting detail as whole or selecting just one object in it (i.e. dimension or position number)
Now icon on the ribbon will directly run Detail Center Standard, saving an extra step to get to drawing generation workflow.
For clarity, below items were renamed to conform with the standard, commonly used nomenclature.
- Renamed US Stick as Single Line- Renamed US Sketch as Single Line with Widget
Sorting by position number to NC-DSTV log fileNC-DSTV log file has been enhanced with sorting, allowing to easer find verify what parts were processed.
This enhancement will also allow using a larger set of characters in one file.
The ability to add plate thickness to the file name was added for DXF files. This enables users to sort the DXF files based on thickness and sort them for easier management of the fabrication process.
Ability to export groups, subgroups, and assemblies as separate DGN files. Each group can be now exported as separate DGN files, allowing users to find and review a specific group, subgroup or assembly without opening the whole structure model. This feature can be very useful i.e. at the fabrication stage.Progress of processed elements is indicated with a progress bar. After Exporting Groups as separate DGN files, a log file will be created, containing information about processed groups, subgroups and assemblies.
In Roof/Wall Panels PS properties window Level can be assigned with a drop-down menu, similar to how it works for other objects.
Straight, convex and concave chamfers can now be added to Gusset Plates in Dynamic Bracing tool.
Item Types allow adding additional data to objects including ProSteel objects. Usage examples include Processing Treatment, Progress Stage and many other applications which enable better managment and review of steel structures.
This data can now be included in Reports created with ProSteel Partlist Reports tool.
GUID information can be now used in Reports created with ProSteel Partlist Reports tool.
The following feature that was in Technology Preview mode in previous updates has been commercially released in this update:
Item Type Properties can be now included in schedules created with Create Concrete Partlist Database Tool.
Item Type Properties attached to Concrete and Rebar objects will now be visible in the Report editing tool and can now be added to the template.
One use example would be adding Fabricator name and delivery date to modeled bars so they can be reported and tracked.
Some features in this update are provided as Technology Preview.
Note: Take advantage of this Technology Preview, a non-public software service and/or application for evaluation purposes only. Drawing Schedule Generator tool allows to place rebar schedules based on 3D rebar properties, directly on sheets.
This tool has been added to the Numbering, Marking Group in Concrete workflow’s following tabs:
- Drawing Production- Data/Reporting

Manual Marking allows to attach User Marks to 3D rebar in addition to regular Bar Marks generated during Rebar Positioning. While it is advised to use Bar Marking generated with Positioning tool, User Marks are very flexible and should be used in scenarios that Positioning cannot accommodate. Examples: - if bars in each concrete element needs to be marked from initial number. In example when each concrete object must contain reinforcement that starts with number 1. - if bars in each concrete object have a prefix to indicate concrete owner type (C1 for first bar in a Column, B1 for first bar in a Beam) - if bar marks contain a prefix to indicate reinforcement location or purpose (S1 for first Stirrup, BS1 for first bar in structures top slab)
Tool has been added to the Numbering, Marking Group in Concrete workflow’s following tabs:
The previously known CONNECT Services tab is now renamed as the Help tab which hosts the following:
- Help Contents,- CONNECT Advisor,- Feedback,- Examples,- and Social Media links
ProStructures now supports Physically Based Rendering (PBR). PBR method of rendering accurately represents a material's surface based on its interactions with light. You can create more realistic looking materials that work well in all lighting environments.
The Welcome Screen is now removed. Once you launch ProStructures Designer CONNECT Edition, you will see the Start Screen. The delivered examples section along with the social media links in the welcome screen have been moved to the new Help tab in the ribbon. The news and announcements along with Learn courses can now be accessed from the CONNECT Advisor in the Help tab.
You can now use Components Center, a cloud-based digital component library and catalog management service, to manage your organization's component libraries. You can choose from a wide range of available, approved content, for use in your designs. The geometry and rich data associated with the components as well as reference files and URLs are stored in Components Center and available for use in all phases of a component's lifecycle.
Pantone colors - Pantone colors are no longer supplied with OpenBuildings Designer because of low usage. However, if you need to use them you can use an existing DGN that includes Pantone color books or create a new color book called Pantone using RGB values to create Pantone colors.
Important Note: v8i Task ThemeV8i Task Theme feature which was added to Microstation Platform (Update 13) is not included in ProStructures Connect Edition Update 4. Currently, there are no plans to deliver this feature in upcoming releases.
