In this Wiki, we are going to learn about tool Unfold Pipes which is used to unfold any cutout shapes, tubes and bent plates and insert its development immediately into the active UCS plane.
1) Place a pipe i.e. round shape from the shapes dialog as shown below.2) Now go to Steel > Utilities > Utilities > Unfold Pipes.3) After selecting tool Unfold Pipes, select the pipe which you want to unfold and then Unfold Pipes dialog will come up.4) In the dialog box, there are are several controlling features such as Resolution, tessellation lines, inner and outer contour and its properties. Their use is explained below.i) Resolution Max.: Sets the resolution of the unfolding. The higher the indicated value, the more detailed is the scan of the component searching for any possible outlets or notches. The greatest acceptable value is 360. (Meaning, 180 sets a control point every two degrees.) ii) Inner contour: When checked, the inner contour of tube shapes is unfolded as well. iii) Colours Outer Contour: •OutsideEdges – Sets the color of the outer contour of the developments. •Tessellation Lines – Sets the color of the tessellation lines of the outercontour. •BendLine – Sets the color of possibly existing bent edges of the outercontour. iv) Colours inner contour: •OutsideEdges – Sets the color of the inner contour of the developments. •Tessellation Lines – Sets the color of the tessellation lines of the inner contour. v) Create Tessellation lines: When checked, tessellation lines are displayed. 5) After setting resolution, contours and colors, click OK. Then select the pipe which you want to unfold and then place the unfolded section at required place. (Refer the image below.) 6) In this way, one can create unfolded section of pipe with the help of Unfold Pipes tool.
