In this Wiki, we are going to learn about Continuous Footing and its placement which also known as Strip Footing. Strip footings are commonly used as foundations of load-bearing walls. The footing usually has twice the width as the load bearing wall, sometimes it is even wider. There are two shape types available while placing the footing one is Parametric Shape type and other is User defined. In this document we are going learn about placement of Parametric Shape type Footing.
1. For the insertion of continuous footing take one model with columns placed with pad footings.2. First, select the Concrete workflow and then go to Concrete Placement>Continuous Footing. (Refer the image below.)3. After this the Continuous Footing dialog will appear and in the Shape type field select Parametric Shapes.4. After this, set the Width and Depth of the footing as per the requirement and after that set X and Y Offsets for placement, if necessary.5. After setting the inputs, place the Strip Footing using one of the placement options. Function of each placement option is given below.a) Insert Strip footing by object: In the model, click on the wall to place the Strip Footing underneath. b) Insert Strip Footing by specified points: In the model, click to place the first corner for your strip footing.
Continue clicking to place additional corners as needed. c) Insert Strip Footing by 2D Smartline, Circle, or Arc: In the model, click to select the existing line that represents your footing line.
6. In our model we will use insert Strip footing by specified points. Select this option then select centers of two columns as shown below and after selection then press right click.
