Adding a New material to the ProStructures Database in CONNECT Edition

    Product(s): ProStructures, ProSteel, ProConcrete
    Version(s): CONNECT Edition (10.XX.00.XX)
    Environment: N/A
    Area: General
    Subarea: General
Original Author: Alistair Lobo, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

Depending upon project or design requirements, you may need to add new materials along with its specific information to the ProStructures’ application database and then assign the shapes / members from the model to this newly added material.

This document will guide you on how to add a new material & its properties to the ProStructures database in the CONNECT Edition.

    Solution

Enter methods to resolve in this section.
    1) Open the material database file which is located at C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\USA_Canada_Metric\Standards\ProStructures\Data for ProStructures CONNECT Edition in MS Access (or any other database management application).

NOTE – Depending on the respective WorkSpace you need to choose & navigate to the appropriate location.

    2) With the said MDB file opened in MS Access, you can then add a new row for the material information that you want.

    3) Then save this database file (ProStructuresMaterial.mdb) and then start the ProStructures application & open your model.

    4) Select a shape / member for which you want to assign this newly added material and go to PS Properties.

    5) In the Data tab of the Partlist Data section in the PS Properties, you can then see and choose the new material from the drop down list.

In this manner, you can add any number of materials along with the respective information and assign the same to shapes / members in a new or existing model.
