Problem
How to create and place dimensions with a leader line in a 2D detail drawing / fabrication drawing.
Solution
1) Select and open the ‘Dimension Linear’ command.
2) After this, select the required dimension style and then click the button to open ‘Dimension Styles’. Here, in the ‘Geometry’ tab, under the ‘Dimension With Leader’ section set the settings as below with the Mode set to On.
3) After setting these, click Save and Activate.
4) Now back in the ‘Linear Dimensioning’ dialog box, set the ‘Location’ to ‘Manual’
5) Place the dimension by picking 2 points and then extending the leader line to define its justification and length.
In this manner, one can manually place dimensions with a leader line in your 2D detail drawings and fabrication drawings.
