      Area: Administrate Groups command
      Subarea: Groups
Original Author: Vyanktesh Nama, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

This section contains the wikis related to the Groups tab of Administrate groups command in ProStructures CONNECT Edition. Groups can be used for different reasons. Often used for drawing production to View and detail several parts together at once. We can modify the existing groups and can edit the properties of groups as well.

    A] Create/Delete:

    •   (Create Group) – Assigns individual parts to groups. Click to select the main part of the group in the drawing view followed by the parts to be assigned. The accessory parts to be assigned can also be selected in a field. The parts that may have been selected twice are ignored. Only steel or special parts can be selected for a group.

    •   (Dissolve Group) – Dissolves a group. To do so, click any part of the group.

Tip: Even if the main part gets removed, when dissolved, the ProStructures processes the remaining group member as a group member, thereby residing the element in a named group.

    •   (Delete Group) – Deletes all parts of the selected group from the drawing. To do so, click any part of the group.

    •   (Edit Group Data) – Edits or adds the parts list data. Selecting the group in the drawing opens the Group Properties dialog:

You can enter the parts list data of the selected group in the input fields. The position in the field Pos. No. has been taken over from the main part provided the "Take over mainpart data" field was checked. In addition, the outer dimensions and the overall weight of the group will be displayed.

Note: These input fields can also be accessed via right-click > PS Properties, when you select a part that belongs to the group.
    • Take over main part data – When checked, the parts list data of the main part are accepted as group data for the parts lists (not applicable to Assemblies).

    • Display as one part – When checked, the group is displayed completely as one coherent part after selection (not applicable to Assemblies).

    •   (Add Parts) – Adds new parts to a group. The complete group will be selected when you click any part of the group. Further accessory parts can be added by clicking them.
    •   (Remove Parts) – Removes existing parts from a group. The complete group will be selected when you click any part of the group. Then, remove the parts from the group by clicking on them.

    B] Count:

    •   (Count Groups) – Counts all groups existing in the drawing and display the count in the Number field.

    •   (Change Group Selection) – Allows choosing whether the whole group has to be selected by selecting only one part of the group, or whether the parts have to be independent of each other. To do so, click any part of the group. Then, the mode will be switched over correspondingly and the current status will be displayed in command line.
