Getting an error while placing bolts in the model

      Product(s): ProSteel
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Steel Placement
      Subarea: Bolts
Original Author: Mihir Patil, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Problem

While modeling many users use bolts with customized bolts with new dimensions and types. These users have to make changes in the respective MDB file. However, after making changes in the MDB there can be a possibility while placing new or existing bolts, an error can pop up as ‘Cannot place the bolts’

    (Refer to the image below)

In this wiki, we will discuss how to resolve this issue.

    Solution

    1. If one makes changes in the MDB file of bolts and faces the above error while placing the bolts then the first step will be to open the respective MDB located at the following path.

    C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\ProStructures\Default\appl\MechanicalFasteners\Bolts

    2. Now, in the MDB file select the table of the bolt for which you are getting the error.

    3. After selection, open its Design view from the top.

    4. In here, make sure that all the field properties are standard and set within their designed limits.
For testing this, you can check with default MDB files.

    5. If any field property is set beyond the allowed value/definition, then change it to the standard one.

    6. Once this is done save the MDB file and relaunch the application.

This will resolve this issue while the placement of bolts in the model.
