ProStructures SELECTseries 5 for MicroStation - Update 1:

    • Single rebar editiing commands

    • Singel rebar distribution command

The Rebar Single Distribution command  is used to create the single rebar arrays by two steps.

      • Creating the single rebar by picking the smartline as the rebar shape
      • Distributing it along the picked distribution direction

The dialog is shown as follow:

The following example is U-Bar which is distributed along the footing’s width direction.

The snapshot of this command for MicroStation version is shown as following:

The snapshot of this command for autocad version is shown as following:

    • Continuous footing reinforcement command

Information about the footing’s reinforcing will be entered on this tab. Separate sections will be provided for top and bottom, longitudinal and transverse reinforcing. Also included are sections for concrete clearance values and user preferences for calculating lap splices for the longitudinal bars.

      Clearances:

      - Top (Length/Distance Combo List) - Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the top of the footing. Entered by the user.

      - Bottom (Length/Distance Combo List) - Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the bottom of the footing. Entered by the user.

-Side (Length/Distance Combo List) - Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the sides of the footing. Entered by the user.

      - End (Length/Distance Combo List) - Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the ends of the footing. Entered by the user.

      Top and Bottom Rebar:

      Longitudinal
      - Qty (Numeric:Integer) – Quantity of longitudinal bars present in the zone. If quantity is zero, the spacing and offset values will be used in conjunction with the width of the footing to calculate the number of bars required. Entered by the user.
      - Bar Size (Bar Size Combo List) – The size of the bar. Entered by the user.
      - Spacing (Length/Distance or Spacing Formula) – A value indicating how the longitudinal bars are to be spaced across the width of the footing. Only used when the quantity is set to zero. Entered by the user. Valid entries include lengths and variable or zone spacing formulas.
      - Start Offset (Check Box) – Enables or disables the start and end offset edit fields. If disabled, the start and end offset values will be set to half of the spacing. If enabled, the user will be able to override these values.
      - Start Offset (Length/Distance) – Distance from the side of the footing to the first longitudinal bar.
      - End Offset (Length/Distance) – Distance from the side of the footing to the last longitudinal bar.
      - Lap Method (Combo List) – Allows the user to choose the method of entering the lap length. Valid values are:
                - Length – Value entered in the Lap Value field will be interpreted as a simple length.
                - Bar Diameter – Value entered in the Lap Value field will be interpreted as a bar diameter,
and the lap  length will be calculated by multiplying the bar diameter by the value entered.
                - Lap Table
      -  Lap Value – Lap length to be used when calculating lap splices. The format of this field will change depending on the lap method selected.
      - Stock length (Length/Distance) - The stock length for the given bar size. The stock length for each size is set up in the rebar code definition and can be over ridden to produce a different calculation. This is a required field, and its length must be less than or equal to the mill length.
      - Mill Length (Length/Distance) - The mill length for the given bar size. The mill length for each size is set up in the rebar code definition and can be over ridden to produce a different calculation. This is a required field, and its length must be greater than or equal to the Stock Length.

      Transverse
      - Bar Size (Bar Size Combo List) – The size of the bar. Entered by the user.
      - Spacing (Length/Distance or Spacing Formula) – A value indicating how the transverse bars are to be spaced along the length of the footing. Entered by the user. Valid entries include lengths and variable or zone spacing formulas.
      - Start Offset (Check Box) – Enables or disables the start and end offset edit fields. If disabled, the start and end offset values will be set to half of the spacing. If enabled, the user will be able to override these values.
      - Start Offset (Length/Distance) – Distance from the end of the footing to the first transverse bar.
      - End Offset (Length/Distance) – Distance from the end of the footing to the last transverse bar.
      - Type (Combo List) – Indicates the shape of the transverse bar. Valid choices are:
                - Straight – Straight, with optional end conditions.
                - U-Bar – U-shaped bar with the vertical leg lengths based on the depth of the
footing minus the top and bottom clearances. Can optionally have end conditions.
                - Closed (Bottom zone only) – Closed tie with optional end conditions.

      Lap Splice Preferences:
      - Maximum Stock (Check Box) – Causes the program to maximize the number of stock bars and minimize the number of laps.
% Over – (Numeric:Percentage) – Specifies how much the program is allowed to exceed the stock length in order to save a lap on the last bar of a run. Only enabled if the Maximum Stock option is selected.
      - Uniform Length (Check Box) – Causes the program to use the assigned stock length to calculate all bars with one uniform length.
      - Stagger Laps (Check Box) – This option causes adjacent bars to not be spliced at the same location. Not available when the Uniform Length option is selected.
Stagger Laps (Length/Distance) – Allows the user to specify how far apart the laps on adjacent bars should be. Only enabled if the Stagger Laps option is selected.

      Miscellaneous:
      - Rounding Factor (Length/Distance) - All main steel bar lengths (not stirrups and ties) may be rounded to the entered length. For imperial lengths, the valid rounding factor ranges for 1" to 12". For metric lengths, the rounding factor ranges from 5mm to 300mm in increments of 5mm.
      - Seismic (Check Box) - If this button is turned on, seismic hook lengths will be used for stirrup and tie types that require 135 degree hooks. If this button is off, standard 135-degree hook lengths will be used.
      - Bar Calculations (Combo List) - This option determines whether the main steel bars' lengths are to be calculated using clear span or grid to grid span dimension.

      Clearances:
      - Edge (Length/Distance) – Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the end of the beam. Entered by the user.
      - Top (Length/Distance) – Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the top of the beam. Entered by the user.
      - Near Face (Length/Distance) – Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the near face of the beam. Entered by the user.
      - Bottom (Length/Distance) – Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the bottom of the beam. Entered by the user.
      - Far Face (Length/Distance) – Minimum clearance from the reinforcing to the far face of the beam. Entered by the user.
      - Layer (Length/Distance) – Minimum clearance between layers of reinforcing. Entered by the user.

    • Tool to explode end condition of rebar as normal legs of rebar, so that the user can trim the end of the rebar

The Convert End Condition to Bent Bar command  is used to convert the selected End Condition of bars into bent part of the rebar.

      Before running the command:

      After running the command:

The snapshot of this command for Microstation is shown as following:

The snapshot of this command for autocad version is shown as following:

    • Support fo RealDWG2013
    • Enhancement in "Property Dialog":

If user select multiple shapes and invoke the “shape properties” dialog and select the different position of these shapes, the shapes’ location will be adjusted by their own width and height instead of the first select one.

    • Enhancement in "Workframe" dialog:

User need to select the base point of the work frame and the x axis direction of the work frame.

In the “ProSteel work frame” dialog, hold “Ctrl” will click the in the “Length”, ”Width”, ”Height” combo boxes’ dropdown list, the program will ask user to select the shapes which are used to define the work frame.

After user select the target shapes, a work frame will be created by the start and end point of the selected vertical shapes.

    • New command: Isolate:

The command will allow user to select the target part and “isolate the part” in 4 views. (Front, Top ,Left ,ISO ).

The ISO view should be in “Transparent” or “Model” render mode by default (on MicroStation).

After the command executed, the other member in the model except the selected one (or some accompanied parts. See detailed definition below) will be hidden.

The command will save the new 4 views as a view group as “Isolate view group”.

The view settings will be persistent after user select the “save setting” command. BUT the hidden state of the previous isolated part(s) will not be recovered.

The command will invoked by select and right click the menu.

The command will has a main  menu: Isolate view and some sub menus:

      1. "Single part"
      2. "By connection"
      3. "By groups”
      4. “By groups and adjacent parts"
      5. “By assemblies”
      6. "By assemblies and adjacent parts "

Here is the functionality for each option:

    Single part

Isolate the single part and fit it as center on each view.

    By connection

If the selected part belongs to one or more connections, isolate the part and all the part belongs to that connection(s). If the parts belongs to multiple connection.

    By Group

If the selected part is belongs to one or more groups, the parts belongs to the group(s) will also be isolated

    By groups and adjacent parts

In addition to the parts in “By connection”, also isolate the parts that has a “logic link” with the parts inside the group. EVEN that part is not the selected one.

    By Assemblies

If the selected the part is part of an assembly, isolate the assembly’s parts also

    By assemblies and adjacent parts

In addition to the parts in “By Assemblies”, also isolate the parts that has a “logic link” with the parts inside the group. EVEN that part is not the selected one.

    • New command: Drop Object (MicroStation only)

This command is used to downgrade/drop steel standard shapes, user shapes, roof/wall panels, combined shapes and welded shapes to MicroStation cells.

    • User EED's for Concrete objects

EED’s can now be created and assigned to both concrete single parts and groups, and the data can be extracted to an external partlist/B.O.M.

When generating “PC Create Concrete Database”, the extracted EED data is placed in the “ConcretePartlistDetail” table of the partlist *.mdb.

Also, EED related fields are available when designing a bill of material report template *.lst.

    • 2D Detailing enhancements ProStructures SELECTseries 5 for AutoCAD

Unlimited number of user defined line types, hatch styles and sketch display styles. These user styles are a combination of basic settings (e.g. line type, colour, line weight) and they can be addressed in other detailing settings.

3D workframe object has the option to define the 2D output drawing type (elevation/plan view or section). Additional marker symbols in 3D to recognize these types in different view directions.

Support of line weights in 2D display

Grid axis display can be controlled in the detail style. This includes line types, distances and position of the grid axis (e.g. top of view / right side). Grid axis display is available for more kinds of 2D details.

Manual dimension points and reference points can be organized in selection groups. This allows to distinguish between different dimension points and their references in the final 2D output (individual settings and dimension lines are possible).
