Key stations - Roadway designer - Power Rail track SS2

In roadway designer, if we have to enter/select multiple chainages in the key stations. Is there any option to upload the list automatically, instead of entering one by one manually.

In my project, I have to create 300 cross sections at particular chainages which are not at regular interval. Kindly let me know if there is any option to upload/copy the chainages into key chainages dialogue box.

Similarly, is there any option to upload the list of chainages in custom set cross sections, instead of entering one by one manually?

Custom cross sections may be the solution here, along with some excel manipulation.

If you go to, Evaluation, Cross Sections, Create Cross Sections and look in the Custom Leaf, you can add cross sections to a Custom Cross Section Set and save them as an. xsc file. If you open up an. xsc file in a text editor, (notepad etc.) you can see how this file is created. See attached image.

The format of this is pipe separated, so information is separated with a | symbol, and anything with a : infront of it is ignored by the software.

So, if you have the chainages of your 300 points for cross sections, you could define them in Excel, and combine them into pipe separated data text strings using the & function of MS Excel, before saving them as .txt and changing the extension.

Might be worth having a look at your alg and these 300 stations to see what I can do

  • Hi Alastair,

Thank you for the tip, I got the same idea but instead of "station range" I considered "perpendicular" which consists of X and Y coordinates along with the chainage (as shown in the attached pic), which is a bit complicated than the station range .xsc file format

Now I got the desired solution, with station range and some excel manipulation.

    Warm regards,

    Surya

  • I had a look at "perpindicular", but the XY points looked complicated.
Station range will work OK, but you may need to define more information.
    Glad you got sorted

  • Initially, I tried to work with "Perpendicular".xsc file format, but it didn't work out well as it is complicated.

Finally, I got the desired solution with "Station range" file format after your seeing your reply.

    Thanks again....

However, the main question still remains open...any option to upload/copy chainages into Roadway designer -> key stations
