Cant alignment display issue (annotate profile) - Bentley Rail Track Suite

Hi everybody,

Just wondering whether anybody has encountered this problem after generating a cant longitudinal profile in Bentley Rail Track Suite. Normally, when you generate one, the cant display should be like this:

But, in the same profile, I have seen some strange displays like the one in the image below:

As far as I'm concerned, the correct display should be the one in the first image, but several shifted lines like ones in the last image appeared every time I generated the profiles. No matter the Preference or XIN file used, the issue still remains.

I had some hypothesis which are the following:

  • The issue could appear after the cant reaches a certain value - Discarded (see example in the images above)
  • This problem could be due to Bentley's intention to avoid the text (Co=30) crashing with the white margin, so it shifted the yellow line towards the centre a little bit - Discarded (it has been proved that it happened even with enough space for the text)
  • what I'm suspecting is that this could be related to the way I input the values in the Cant Editor - I have checked whether this happens with the cant values which have been input manually but this wasn't the case neither.

If anybody has encountered this problem, please feel free to share your experience and solutions (if you know any). Any ideas will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

  • It looks to be the effect of "Display Similar to Curvature". It is a check box at the bottom right corner of the Cant Alignment setting dialog

  • Hi jpln,

Thanks for your suggestion. At first I also thought about this possibility but apparently this is not the case.

When I check the "Display Similar to Curvature" box, the cant profile appears like in the one in the image below:

According to the illustration above, both types of cant profile displays appeared, the correct display (the left one) and the incorrect display (the right one). They all should appear same as the left one (without any shifted lines). I reckon it might be a bug produced by the program.

Ps. For the case of when the "Display Similar to Curvature" box is unchecked, the cant profile will be displayed as per the following image:
