Bentley Rail Special Interest Group Meeting: Validate and Visualize Rail Design - Wednesday, 27 July, 2016

Join Bentley’s J.P. Gauthier and Robert Nice for this complimentary, one-hour virtual meeting of the Bentley Rail  Special Interest Group. Learn first-hand how to validate and visualize your rail design, including how to:

  • Ensure that your design complies with all relevant rail standards.
  • Ensure that you adhere to design rules and clearance requirements.
  • Use visualization to ensure that the proposed track, signaling, and electrification work with the existing infrastructure to deliver a drivable railway.

Don’t miss this great opportunity to network with industry colleagues, connect with Bentley software experts, and share questions and input.

  • Hi guys

I remotely attended one of these sessions -I think it was this one

    pages.info.bentley.com/event-details-ae;eventGUID=d1290897-5399-4d86-bd39-8c2fb0ed335b&BPID=Jeremy.Santana@bentley.com&CEID=&et_cid=2134563&et_rid=56477583&et_cc=US&et_lc=CS&SKID=

I actually tried to ask a question, but I think my laptop microphone wasn't working
I am also now aware that @jpln was the person who was presenting - hello and thank you!

There was a section on this presentation on capturing photography of a rail corridor site using equipment that records photographic metadata. (X,Y,Z, tilt etc.). It was used in conjunction with topographical information and the Drive Roadway Modeller in PowerRail Track to produce a visualtion that looked great. The presentation then went on to talk about signal sighting in London which was interesting.

However I cant for the life of me remember the name of this product that was used both to record the photos and then to post process them in a Bentley software interface.

Could you please remind me what product/products were used for this visualisation and if possible help me find the link to the presentation online. We are looking to use it on a project and would be keen to understand its integration and limitations.

    Thanks

    Alastiar
  • Hello!

If I recall correctly I think it was a combination of Bentley Signal Sighting, MicroStation and 'Track Access Services' videos.
