Clearance in Track Plane Report Question

All

Am looking for some information on what kind of report to use or even help with developing a stylesheet in PRT SS2.

My goal is to be able to generate a report for horizontal and vertical offsets between a datum track with applied cant, and a second track, measured parallel plane of the rail at 10m intervals.

I know that Clearance Report gives horizontal and vertical offsets from a canted datum alignment in plane of rail in the “Clearance to Track Plane Report. If use Geometry – View Geometry Rails and append 3D rails to surface and report clearance to this surface rail feature, I can get the Clearance to Track Plane to Feature with offsets similar to what I expect. What I don’t know is how PRT gets these values, as they do not match 100% with my own calcs.

My Project Defaults has Inside to Inside Rail Distance as 1.435m and Centreline Rail to Centreline Rail at 1.505m.

If I use a datum alignment with 120mm applied cant that is 1000mm below a second alignment with zero cant with CL to CL of 3405mm, the software spits out a value of 723mm as the in plane difference.

I calculate it as (120/1505) * (3405) =271mm, which gives a value of 728mm below the second alignment. In this case it is only 5mm, but I am using the same information that I have given the software.

Can anyone help?
