How to change Annotation orientation in ORD

The default horizontal baseline annotation is parallel to the Station Tics.

Is there a way to make it perpendicular to the Station Tics?

I did this manually rotated. Is there a way in ORD to do it automatically?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Charley

  • yes charley, its possible ...

TEXT rotation settings will save in XIN file.

While annotation after loading of XIN file, go to Regular Stations tab > corner end u have to check some hidden settings existed (marked in attachments red & black color) > u will find few settings related to text rotation (marked with yellow color) try these ... which fashion u want.

  • Are you talking about OpenRoads Designer ? This is what ORD is meaning. I don't know how we will name OpenRail Designer when released because the same acronym Slight smile Anyway it will be almost the same. So Rail Track SS4 (and SS2) is using XIN where ORD don't use anymore any legacy file (ird, alg, xin, ...).

Current version of rail product is "Power Rail Track SELECTseries 4 (08.11.09.878)". It is not OpenRail Designer which is planned to be released  on April 2018.

  • hello JPLN,

Am a bit confused in "Open rail, Open Road, In Roads"

can u give me clarification in these versions?\

    Thanks & Regards

  • I must admit that it is not so easy due to long history of Bentley Civil Products.

There used to be 3 brands of products:

    • Inroads/Inrail - Inrail renamed as Rail Track when some MXRail capabilities have been included
    • Geopak
    • MX/MXRail

All these brands have gradually shared same technology to converge to a single brand: Openroads/Openrail

So over past  10/15 years Terrain Models, Civil Geometry and lastly Corridor modelling have been introduced in each of these legacy brands. The latest generation of these brands is V8i SELECTseries 4. V8i SELECTseries 4 is the last generation with the legacy brands (Inroads/Geopak/MX).

Now, the new generation is there with only 2 brands:

    • OpenRoads
    • OpenRail

Both are sharing the same technology inherited from SS4 generation (Terrain model, Civil Geometry, Corridor modelling). The big step is everything that is annotation (if considering 64-bits architecture and rubans interface as smooth evolution).

    OpenRoads

    1. OpenRoads ConceptStation: released. Preliminary design: easy, fast  and beautiful
    2. OpenRoads Designer: released. Detailed design. new version for Inroads/Geopak/MX. Can continue what has been done using ConceptStation
    3. OpenRoads Navigator: BIM review using on i-model produced from Openroads Designer (or other publisher) but one key aspect is the knowledge of stationning

    OpenRail

    1. OpenRail ConceptStation: released. Preliminary Design: tracks, yards, turnouts, catenary system, tunnel, bridge
    2. OpenRail Designer: not released yet. Detailed design. Overhead Line Design to be included gradually.
Because Openrail Designer is not released yet, Power Rail Track V8i SELECTseries 4 is actually taking this place as well as Power Rail Overhead Line for catenary systems
    3. OpenRail Navigator: not released.

Of course OpenRoads and OpenRail are fully interoperable because they are sharing the same technology and all based on DGN. We could also add OpenBridge Modeller or Gint (geotechnical).

  • Thanks you JPLN,

As i understood, SS4-OpenRail Designer still not yet released, for Rail design we are suppose to use SS2 only.
