I have installed the new OpenRail Designer and have tried the new Create Sleepers command, which works nicely.
I would like to suggest the following additional functionality for this tool to accommodate our tie configurations:
Also, just a small thought, could we do an en-us localization of sleeper to tie and cant to superelevation?
Agreed. It would also be useful to be able to change the sleeper depth. This seems to be fixed to 100mm, I can't find a way of changing this.
We should create an en-us version because not sure it is a good idea to change sleeper for everybody. It has always been sleeper. Changing cant to superelevation is the same issue with an additional one. If doing this we will have the same word for road and rail. Sometime an issue when searching the command. To my point of view it is an advantage to have 2 different words. My experience in French where we are using the same word!
Sleeper command is a first implementation and the main purpose for this first release is visualization. Note that if turnout last long sleeper distance is set the sleepers are automatically changed in turnouts. Not suitable for 3rd rail of course.
Also agreed with ikinal. It would be great to be able to put a cell in the place of the sleeper so we can create our sleepers cell library and use them depending on the project.
Either a cell or a component from the template library would probably be a good solution.
Sleeper depth is added for the next update.
