Solving a Turnout or Crossover with OPEN RAIL DESIGNER

The latest update 4 10.04.00.48 lets build both turnout and crossover geometry, then the sleepers from the main track are updated but i am having problems to wide the ballast shape and the other components of secondary track, any video or help for doing?

  • You must control points of your template using branch geometry. So you need a template that includes main+branch and apply it along the turnout. Main line is usually the reference. Then add a point control to the edge of the ballast (and/or subballast depending on the template behavior) to follow the geometry of the branch. You can also define the branch as a secondary alignment, a quick way to be a little more accurate for the external part of the branch. You can find templates such as  "single track - Siding left (or right) in the delivered template library that are made for such design.
