Hi,
I'm looking for a tool in Open Rail Designer similar to "multiple element regression analysis" (tool in Power Rail Track). I want to connect two lines in a more complicated way than "spiral - arc - spiral" (for example "spiral - arc - spiral - arc - spiral" or "spiral - arc - arc - spiral". Is there any tool in Open Rail Designer that can do something like this?
Thanks
DR
Not yet as you are able to do with Rail Track. I am pretty sure that we can find an acceptable workflow with the current version. Multiple Elements Connection solver should be back in the future. We will have more capabilities using a table editor. Maybe in the upcoming version but I didn't check yet.
I would like to echo the above comments. While I think there is probably a way to achieve the same result using OpenRail CE Civil Tools, however the abiilty to amend radii and lengths and target bearings, as well as force connections/healing in one tool without moving along each element amending characteristics would be very valuable.
A table editor would be a step towards it, however I would also be keen to see a tool that uses regression points, similar to the existing Multiple Horizontal Regression Analysis Tool.
So when should we expect a new version of ORD?
It's out there now! version 10.05.00.30
2019-R1 and 2019-R2 both include the geometry connector (in complex group)
2019-R3 should allow using turnouts. Not sure if using regression points will be included in R3, but it is in the roadmap
