The feature definition properties for Turnouts in OpenRail Designer contains a placeholder for Item Types in the same vein as Linear Features. The input prompts for the ad-hoc business data even come up as the turnout is being placed. However, once the turnout is placed, that drop down for the item type class is nowhere to be found under the element properties of the turnout. Can someone else confirm that item types do not "stick" when placing turnouts? They should stick after the fact if you attach them as a workaround.
Yes you are right. Attaching the item after placement does work
I am still running into this. See a progression of photos below if that helps. The item type appears to stick not to the primary turnout element itself, but a 2D linear element traced over the Turnout Feature Definition. While this does house the data somewhere, it is not useful to automatically annotate turnouts with text favorites in this form. It would work much better if it attached to the turnout element itself per the second photo.
You are right. And also to get information on the parent element when picking the item in explorer. Also we should bring this information in the 3D model on the line that represents the turnout.
So it needs improvements.
If you attach the item after placement through the attach item command it is ok. Just a workaround
