How to Export Terrain Model TM in ASCII file (.xyz - Only Point Data)?

I've created a Complex TM merging different TM models; now i want to export Complex TM in a "points format" like ASCII (.xyz) or .pod

  • Here is a workflow to get XYZ coordinates.

    1. Make a copy of the terrain DGN.

    2. In the new DGN, display the terrain so that only the points and boundary are shown. I edited the 'Existing_Boundary' element template so that the CalculatedFeatureSettings had TriangleVertices displayed as PointType [Element] on level 'E_Terrain_Triangle_Vertices'. See the image for the settings.

    3. Use the CAD tool 'Drop Element' to drop the terrain to CAD elements. (You may have to use 'Drop' twice - if terrain disappears, undo, and try again.)

    4. Select the points and use Export Coordinates tool [Drawing (workflow) > Annotate (tab) > Terrain Model (group) > Export Coordinates] Select the points first, and then use 'Single' to export the selection.

(This took 2 minutes to complete for 34334 points.)
