Hello everyone,
Is there any difference between OpenRoads and OpenRail for Rail design? I mean since I can use InRoads SS2 or Rail Track SS2 to design the same rail alignment and modeling, is this means OpenRoads and OpenRail also have the same function for rail design. In other words, either of them can finish the track alignment and modeling design, correct?
Thanks,
Jason
Thank you, your answer helps me to decide which one I should use.
There are some additional rail capabilities in OpenRail you do'nt have in OpenRoads: regression, turnouts, track cant, swept path, rails, sleepers, electrification (even only tech preview in OpenrRail). Differences will probably increase in the future. Actually OpenRail = OpenRoads + extra rail capabilities.
However, depending on what you have to design Openroads could do the job. But just a simple example. If you want to automatically annotate cant information on profile (and in plan will come back soon in 2020-R2) it is something you can't do with OpenRoads. You can also create your own alignment or cells instead of using turnout functionalities but less efficient especially for bending.
