I see the confusion, the interface does not display the selected type, this we can fix (actually it should have been fixed already for the next release). But it will still create the geometry using the selected spiral type. Just create one and then check the properties of the created geometry, you will see it has the NSW type spirals.

RE: Multiple regression analyses missing

Hi,

this time I must be the developers advocate. Most of the time I also claim for more rail engineering

Developers hear and, most of the time, understand you (and me) with a little translation to developer language.
However there is a huge range of expectations.

Market was and is requiring BIM capabilties. Even more Bentley is well engaged and do want to sustain iTwin.
That is what is driving OpenRoads/OpenRail. development and others. We must sustain BIM and iTwin.
It looks like we are doing quite well there but we do know we need to improve drawing deliverables (2D drawings and PDFs are still required) and other parts of the workflow.

We know as well that we have to fill gap with rail engineering. We are working on. Everything is a matter of priorities vs resources.
And priorities varies between users and accounts, and even users within account. And we must add the same within Bentley.

I am looking forward next version with enhanced regression tools, vertical change in plan, turnout and cant annotation for few rail dedicated tools.
All kind of things that could help moving from Rail Track SS2 to new generation of software that is designed to sustain projects globally.

RE: Multiple regression analyses missing

Hi Petr,

we are many in this forum who explained to the developers of bentley that they had a really great software PRT SS2 and they create this toy called ORD. unfortunately they don't want to understand. and it'is really wired that they not get that yet and they continue in the same path. in my company we still using PRT SS2 !!!

RE: Multiple regression analyses missing

Hi Kivanc,

Just a comment regarding your post.

The "Regression Analysis" in InRail / RailTrack was the most unique piece of tool in all railway design software I know. It was a collaboration between Bentley (at the time Intergraph) and a series of European railway companies. I remember the visits from the development-teams when I was working for Danish State Railway (DSB). I'm convinced that was one of the reasons, the product was so widely used and appreciated among railway-designers in the world.

I think it's a real shame that this "tradition" - working closely with users/clients for development is down prioritized and for the ORD we only get what the Bentley developers think is best for us, but not what we really need/wished and how we are working everyday in our job.

Best regards,

LiPeng

RE: Multiple regression analyses missing

Hope this can help:

One thing that must be improved, post 2020-R2 (10.08.01.33) is the ability to select only part of the alignment. Actually second element is always the last of the alignment.

Enhancement request already logged.

It will also be enhanced to use regression points and should also include a nudge tool. Expected 2020-R3.

RE: Multiple regression analyses missing

Hi, Petr!

My questions are almost not related whit your query. I'm curious, if you manage to create this compound curve, do you need to annotate it as a single curve?

And one other thing, do you need to annotate numbering on curves?

Because I trying lately to get into the program (ORD), and I was surprised that this options are removed.

RE: Multiple regression analyses missing

Hi Petr,

There is a tool in ORD - Geometry Connector.

It looks pretty much like Multiple Regression in BRT.

The only spiral type available there is Clothoid, but maybe it can work for you.
