Once vertical alignment PI's are drawn, and we start defining values how to change the curve type from parabolic to circular in Open Rail?
You can't. You must replace the curves using circular. So drop the profile, delete parabola and place circular.
So the best is to use the good one since the beginning. Check the create Complex by VPI tool settings dialog to set it correctly (Parabola/Circular/Asymmetric)
If i need to use VPI but since the grid is not fixed how to put the exact value. With a free mouse it is not easy to place the VPI at the exact chainage. Then it takes back to my other posted query that the grid is not fixed.
This is a very good question and one that needs to be addressed by Bentley, how do we snap to chainages in vertical design? In BRT I can simply snap to a grid line at the design chainage. This is something all designers do, is there any way to turn a grid on in vertical?
Civi Accudraw should adress the needs for acurate inputs. Is there something missing from Civil Accudraw?
You can also draw what you want on the profile model that will help you to design, such as lines (multiple copies, array)
Will try it out. Another point, if we need to design a vertical and show a vertical that we already designed of a parallel track or say in depot. How is it possible. In BRT there was a option of viewing various verticals alignments. jpln
You stil have such capabiities. You can project any geometry (any profile) on an other geometry to get it on its profile. You can find this in Profile Creation. Project profile or Project Range. It does work from reference. It does work even with linestrings (dgn/dwg) as long as the y are referenced both in 2D and 3D. The link is maintained with the source, so that any change to the projected geometry is automatically updated. There are other capabilities such as copy profile projected or not, also available from a reference. Both profile models source and destination must be opened.
