Hello, I've tested the new functionality of horizontal multiple regression of ORLD 2021-R1 and I've compared with the same regression performed in BRT SS2 and the results are quite similar and workflow is so easy in ORLD. Congratulations to developers!
But... I was disappointed when I tried to find the same precess for vertical multiple regression, it is not possible to perform this procedure as in BRT. For example, I have regressed two vertical lines, and I have to insert a parabola between them fited to regression points. Now, can do it only with an interactive and repetitive process until the right solution is found. I think it would be very easy wtih a tool like Geometry Connector for vertical geometry. Do you have planned to develop something like this? This procedure exists in BRT.
Returning to horizontal multiple regression, in Geometry Connector tool, currently it is possible to set free the length of the first and last element, but it would be very useful if we can introduce manually the length of these elements like in Multiple Regression of BRT.
And the last question, when we create de horizontal regression line from rails, the commad asks if we want to show the existing cant on curvature diagram view, what is the line that represents the cant? Is it possible to create a report or graphical query of this cant? or assign it to an existing alignment?
Thanks!
Thank you for your feedback.
Yes a good job done by Piotr on the regression.
Multiple Vertical regression: the demand was not at same level as horizontal. But now that horizontal is done we may reconsider priorities. Both enhancement have been added and targeted for next major release:Product Backlog Item 819658: Vertical Regression: multiple regression analysis on vertical
Enhancement 1134340:Geometry Connector Add option to set length of last and first element - AVAILABLE 2022R3 10.12
When you are using geometry connector you can sometime change the length of the first/last element by editing it using the manipulators.
Regarding cant, the line shows the vertical difference from lower rail to upper rail where lower rail depends on the setting (inside rail, left rail, ...).You can use station base report to report the existing cant.No you can't add existing cant to an alignment. We don't have Rail Track capabilities to compute cant from existing cant.
Regarding cant, the line shows the vertical difference from lower rail to upper rail where lower rail depends on the setting (inside rail, left rail, ...).
But this line is not selectable, and the value of the existing cant, is the value of Y axe of curvature diagram?
You can use station base report to report the existing cant.
How can I do it? Is it necessary to convert rails to alignments? I have defined the regresion line from rails drawn as 3D linestrings.
Thanks @jpln
Existing cant line is just there to give additional understanding of the existing. It is also something you can create when you create cant.:
To do a report using rails, you must first convert them to 2D element using Model Detailing ribbon and Create Plan by 3D Element:
Then you can use a Station Base report using these elements
I was able to replicate some multiple regression alignments from BRT in ORD as well. I discovered that if you select the regression points that contain offset and weight properties that you can edit. Does this and drawing of the envelopes replace this dialog below or is there still a way to review and make bulk edits in a tabular view?
Thank you,
There is no table we can use to review/edit points.
We can select all points we want to change and edit common properties using properties dialog
