Importing Alignment

Good Afternoon,

I'm trying to import/use an alignment file that I've received, the alignment is in .dgn format and is a series of line strings along each rail. The alignment received is exactly the one I want to use in my model to then use a corridor and then use the strings as the point controls. I'll attach an image so you can better see what I mean.

The red blue and white are the line strings, what is the best way to go about doing this without losing the accuracy/position of the alignment?

Thankyou!

  • Hi Jake,

You need to follow the below process.

    Step1

    1. Create a new 3D DGN using a 3D seed file
    2. Reference the survey dgn and merge into master to copy all data into the 3D DGN
    3. Use the Create Complex Chain tool to join the individual line segments together for each rail in 3D DGN

    Step2

    1. Create a new 2D DGN using a 2D seed file and reference the 3D DGN into the new 2D model
    2. Use Convert Rails to Centreline to create a regression line that you can then use for horizontal regression
    3. After the horizontal is complete you can use Create Profile from Rails to create a vertical regression line that can be used for a vertical regression workflow

Once horizontal alignment with vertical profile is created, you can apply a template to create corridor model.

    Cheers,
