Hi - hope someone can help, please. I exported my design from MX in LandXML format, which I know from experience loses the cant. That's all okay, though. But I've gone through the steps to add the cant and re-export the XML, but am having some trouble. It's quick and easy to import/tweak cant/re-export in BRT, but I really would like to get used to doing it in ORD.
My steps:
- I imported the LandXML file into ORD using the Import Geometry tool
- Used the Speed Table function because I couldn't add cant without defining that (is this normal? It's not a step I've needed to do when doing this process in BRT)
- Used the Create Cant on my centreline... and so far so good!
- Time to use Export Geometry... and it seem to work! But when checking the export, I noticed what seems like a problem.
I can see the chainage is correct for my horizontal and vertical parts of the design, but the cant simply starts at 0m chainage (it should be 271670m start) and the end point is the extent of the job (in this case 1600m in length).
Have I missed a step? Is there some disconnect between the chainage for the Hz/Vt and the chainage for the cant? If so, how can I tie them together? When I use the Cant Report tool, it shows the correct chainage, so I'm a bit puzzled.
Any help would be fantastic, please. Thanks.
Hi - just confirming that I've managed to export an XML file successfully from ORD 10.11.00.115 / CE 2022 Release 1 Update 11 and the chainage for the cant now shows as expected. Thanks for the fix!

Hi jpln - I'm currently using OpenRail Designer CE 10.10.01.03 (2021 Release 1 Update 10), and I've come across the exact same problem. The cant is not showing the correct chainage when importing an XML file. Has this been resolved in a version of ORD I don't yet have, or is the issue not fixed yet? Many thanks.
Thanks for reply. Hope it's an easy fix.
I've also tried bringing in Through Alignment Design XMLs that were originally Genios converted into XML using BRT (which have cant included)... but when importing to ORD, the cant seems to be missing, so it needs to be built from scratch again.
So it looks like the description of the XML standard for cant impose to use what we name the "internal station", so not the one you see.
So the export is good according to XML standards and our import is wrong because it should convert this internal station to the alignment stationing. We have a defect.
So if alignment Station at start is 1500 (internal station 0), cant alignment in XML shows 0 but should be converted to 1500 during the import.
Unfortunately you didn't miss anything. There is a bug.
Defect 1097561:Geometry>Export XML: stationing not used for cant
I am investigating why it is not fixed in 10.10.01.03 (reported in 10.09)
