When I generate a coach sweep I often get random points in the swept path that "shoot out" from the actual swept path. Below is an example. I generated the below coach sweep using the "longitudinal and template" method with a 1 m section interval and a 1 m coach sample interval. I am using a custom template. I have tried different templates but it does not fix the problem. Making the section interval smaller makes it worse. However, increasing the section interval does not make the problem go away either. I have also tried changing the coach sample interval but that does not seem to make a difference. Has anyone else experienced this and have an suggestions or fixes?
I have never experienced such result. The best is to submit your DGN + ITL (you can create one with the single template your are using) for analysis.
I have created a very basic example here that replicates the problem:

It is due to very small distance between points in your template (1mm). The swept tool doesn't handle well this level of accuracy. Usually shapes used to check envelop are simplified. With little less points it is working as expected. It is a limitation of the tool. It does not handle curves as well. So not possible to reach of accuracy of a mm or less. Do we need to achieve such accuracy?
I attached my template where I simplied the shape and it is working well (XS2).
