No way I think. Doing a report from OpenRail and reconstruct everything in SS2.
Question is: what is really needed as SS2 ? If client wants to modify then it must be recreated, or client should accept to move to OpenRail.
If client is requiring ALG for alignments then XML export/import is enough + creation of turnouts if needed in SS2. Everything else as DGN.
Dear Jean Pierre, first, I hope you are doing well, the client is not going to update to OpenRail, they are constructors, and they have a complete set of settings in their preference files that they use to create their construction drawings.
The biggest station wagon contains 17 template drops, 75-point control, and 28 parametric constraints, in fact, SS2 imports the parametric constraints from a txt file, but it´s not possible to import from a csv or txt file the point control, then in a very time-consuming process to introduce them manually.
I clearly understand. But backward compatibility is rarely ensured and has never been possible from OpenRail to Rail Track except DGN.There is an enhancement to be able to import Point Control. Something that will help here but there is no timeframe yet for such enhancement. If it is a matter of drawing production, did someone do an evaluation of OpenRail capabilities to produce required drawings?
Thanks for your answers, Jean Pierre, but in this phase of the project it´s very time-consuming to make all favorite texts, annotations groups, feature definitions, and so on to get the settings created for ss2.
Of course and it is what must be compared to recreating data in SS2 coming from OpenRail and how many times you must do that job. That is why we first need evaluation of required deliverables to check, as fast as possible, if it can be done or if something is not possible in OpenRail.
