Cant Design with MX Rail problems

Hi,

I am having trouble with MX Rail: Cant Table as it decides to change my Design Speed when I Apply, is there an alternative method for Applying Cant or manually adding values such as E,D, RoCC, CG, Jerk etc.

Thanks

  •  Colin,

The second option to apply cant is the Cant Design option although this is a manual application of Cant between Tangent Points. I have not come across this particular problem before, if the speed is retyped, is the value accepted, and the cant recalculated as expected.

Although MXRAIL continues to be supported, MX XM was the last release version that MXRAIL was available in. At present there is an ongoing program to migrate MXRAIL Users to Bentley Rail Track. Bentley Rail Track replaces InRail and MXRAIL as the comprehensive solution for rail infrastructure design and maintenance.

    regards

  • Thanks Dean,

The Speed is accepted in the table alright, but changes after you hit Apply. A simple example is having to two curves with 50kph design speed but a long straight of 70kph inbetween. The 70 gets changed back to 50...

    MX Build 08.05.02.26

Regret to say, I don't expect BRT to appear in my office, it was trialled but the vast majority preferred to stay with MX, glad to hear MX is still being supported though.

  • Colin I have experienced the end of MXRail, although I am fortunate in being able to use both MX and InRail/BRT, so whilst MX is being supported don't expect to find the rail product in v8i. Things like S&C and cant have disappeared so depending on what you are doing you will need to find other methods. Good luck Mike
  • I'm not really sure I follow your point Gaucho, but the status quo is we are using and paying in full for MX. not my personal preference, but I only count as one vote... I need to find a solution to a specific problem, which appears to be a fault of the supplier, not change software - that would be a pretty poor excuse for a solution?
  • Hi Colin
Sorry to appear vague. What I was really getting at is that when you upgrade from MX XM, the present release is v8i, you will not find MXRail. So you have no access to S&C libraries and cant other than through Major Options Design and Alignment. Will this affect your present design workflow?
Best of luck - as users I think we all need it in this transition.

  • Gaucho,

The Switch and Crossings are not gone in Bentley Rail Track, they are just now Turnouts.  The .itm and .crs files out of MX can be imported into the Switch & Crossings Library. That caommand is found by selecting Geometry > Turnouts > Switch & Crossing Library.

As far as cant, I am not experenced enough in MX to comment on that but the Cant commands in Rail Track are found in Geometry > Superelevation.  The cant alignment is used as a point control in the Roadway Designer.

Do not forget there is a Bentley Rail Track Fundamentals class available that uses the Switch & Crossing commands and Cant.
