Perpendicular surface

Hallo, i want to create a surface in the roadway modeler using an alternative surface option. But I want this surface to be perpendicular to the profile. For example the point for the alternative surface is at 1m distance from the vertical alignment, I want the alternative surface to be perpendicular to the profile at one meter elevation. As a result the elevation at that a particular station will be little more taking into consideration the vertical slope. Is it possible to do that in the road way modeler or is there any other function. Thank you for your help.

  • hello,

I don't see any way to use the longitudinal slope in the Roadway designer. It would mean creating points before/after the current cross section location. I don't know exactly what you want to achieve but If you really need only this line at a perpendicular offset from the ground, then you can:

    • create the profile with the existing surface (extend the profile at the begining and the end)
    • offset the line using CAD command: it will offset perpendicular to the line
    • import this new line as a new vertical alignment using surface>import>geometry: profile only
    • if you need it as a feature, you can import the geometry in a surface using import>Surface: from geometry
That is my first, and currently only one, idea.

  • Hallo JPLN

Thank you for the quick response and for the great advice. It works well. I believe that it is the only way out.  Thank you.
