Hello. I'm very new to BRT, previously having used MX.
I'm currently struggling to import an alignment from a Microstation file. When I import an element (in this case a simple circular curve) it is seperated into several small elements. I would really appreciate some advice and a step by step guide to creating an alignment from and existing graphical line/elements.
hello,
The best is to import straights and arcs using Import>Geometry. You must check "all elements to a single alignment".
pick each element from the begining to the end of the element.
Then use Geometry>Horizontal element>add spiral to fill all gaps between elements (1 operation to fill all gaps);
Don't import a line string directly because you will get only small straight elements.
You can import a complex but in case if it includes "transitions" you will get them as line strings.
Best Regards

Hi,
is there any way to import graphic elements in open rail (for straights and circular curves)
You can just assign rules (and feature definition) to the elements (Geometry>Design elements>Create Civil Rule Feature). They will become civil geometry.
