Integrated Structural Modeling v2 Now Available

We have just released v2 of Bentley's Integrated Structural Modeling—or ISM—technology with Structural Synchronizer V8i (SELECTseries 2), which is now available for download from Software Downloads, along with several new ISM v2 compatible Bentley engineering and drafting applications.

What is ISM?

ISM is a technology which allows for structural data exchange, revision tracking, model visualization, and change management in wide vareity of structural engineering workflows. The central component is Bentley's free iWare application, Structural Synchronizer.

New Features

Some of the new features available in ISM v2:

Grids - Both orthoganl and radial grids are now supported
Rebar - Columns and beams. Slabs, walls, & footings
Bar Joists - Standard SJI joists and joist girders (via SPC)
Steel deck & Compososite deck - ASC & Verco Profiles (via SPC). Custom deck possible
Studs & Camber
Expanded Section Library (via SPC) - including cold-formed, bent plate, and Schifflerized angles
Nodes and Boundary Conditions - Similar to nodes in an FEM, but restricted to "key" nodes only. Replaces connections in v1. Node locations are usually auto-generated when needed.
Wood & Masonry tags
Curved beams & slab edges
… and many more small updates & enhancements

ISM 2.0 Release Schedule

The following products are being released today and are all ISM v2.0 compatible:

ISM Revit® Plug-in V8i (SELECTseries 2) - Features a totally & automated mapping facility for Revit family files
RAM Concept V8i (SELECTseries 6)
RAM Elements V8i (SELECTseries 3)
RAM Structural System V8i (SELECTseries 4)

The following products are scheduled to ship by the end of Q3 2011:

ISM Revit® Plug-in V8i (SELECTseries 3): Includes Revit® 2012 support and rebar export
STAAD.pro V8i (SELECTseries 3)

The following products are scheduled to be available by the end of 2011:

^† currently support ISM v1. ISM v1 and v2 applications can be used together. The latest version of Structural Synchronizer is required and it will update any repositories when needed for compatabilitiy.
