I am pleased to announce a new incremental release of STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition V22.
As part of our commitment to you to deliver new builds more frequently, we are making available this version which adds great new functionality to improve efficiency for engineers around the world and has resolved numerous issues that have been reported and thus highly recommend that you look to adopt this version and improve your working experience.
The principal developments and enhancements that are delivered in this new version of STAAD.Pro are:-
The physical model now allows you the ability to define collections of load cases with their own analysis methods which can be quickly activated/deactivated and sequences redefined for rapid prototyping during the development phase.
A popular feature in STAAD.Pro used in the metal building industry is the use of members that have a tapering web. The ability to define and utilise this in a physical model has been added to allow for this enhanced profile property
Being able to parametrically define physical models added in the last release has been enhanced with an improved Editor for user defined templates and new templates. The introduction of folders for organising templates, the support of trigonometric functions such as sine and cos to assist in defining more complex geometry along with the improved editing controls for user defined templates.
STAAD has had the ability for generating load combinations based on the specified load case categories. These are delivered with the installation as a number standard rule sets, but can be modified and supplemented with user defined rule sets. With STAAD.Pro V22 Update 7 an additional rule set has been added to assist those designing models to that need to account for load combinations as defined in the ASCE-7 2016 publication.
In the last release of STAAD.Pro, the analysis of finite element models was extended with the support of using offsets assigned on plate elements when used with a standard elastic analysis. In this release, this support has been extended to include p-delta analysis, direct analysis and dynamic analyses that use eigen solutions such as response spectrum and time history.
When working with models that have rigid floor diaphragms, STAAD.Pro has provided a method for checking the model for irregularities as defined in a number of design codes. The checks for torsion irregularity to IS 1893 (Part 1):2016 which has been implemented in STAAD.Pro has been updated with Amendment 2. This amendment has now been incorporated in STAAD.Pro along with an update in the format of the check results to assist designers with making suitable judgements as to the actions to take based on the results of the checks.
STAAD.Pro has worked closely with designers in China to develop a solution to meet the needs of Chinese engineers who design steel structures to the GB 50017. This was previously offered as a standalone application providing design routines to help optimize structural members of models created separately in STAAD.Pro.
With STAAD.Pro CE V22 Update 7 this design capability has been simplified by merging it into the main application so provides a more convenient work process and ultimately making a more productive solution avoiding having to jump between different applications.
To complement the introduction of the Chinese Steel Design Workflow, the range of response spectrum loading methods offered has been increased with the introduction of the Chinese method defined in the GB 50011-2010 specification.
To help provide greater clarity on the quality assurance carried out each time the program is released, more verification examples and models are added into the installation providing engineers to not only satisfy themselves on the approaches taken, but the validity of the results in the various analysis methods and design codes that are supported by STAAD.Pro.
The Advanced Concrete Design application, RCDC, has been updated to v11.0 which includes: -
For more details on these and other issues that have been addressed in this build Refer to the RCDC Release Notes.
The concrete foundation application included in the STAAD.Pro installation, STAAD Foundation Advanced (SFA) has been updated to v9.6 which includes: -
For more details on these and other issues that have been addressed in this build Refer to the SFA Release Notes.
Note that if you are already using STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition, you should be notified of the new build with the Bentley CONNECTION Client.
Revision History
The Revision History document details the issues that have been addressed and as with all builds is included in the ReadMe file which can be accessed from the Help section of the application and can also be found here. What's New in STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition V22 Update 7
