It has been noted that the AISC 14.1 section profile database that is delivered with STAAD.Pro V8i SS6 (20.07.11.33) has a couple of issues which can be problem with the following profiles:-
1) Models that include standard or extra strong pipe sections. These had been assigned incorrect STAAD names and thus a standard profile would be assigned a extra strong property and an extra strong profile would be assigned the standard property.
2) The first few profiles listed in the wide flange 'W Shape' table are new heavy sections and added to the database with a space in the STAAD name which when assigned to a model would cause the analysis engine to crash.
Resolution of these issues:-
Both of these issues have been addressed in the database attached to the zip file displayed below this blog posting. To update the database in STAAD.Pro V8i SS6, download this file, extract the MDB file and replace the existing one in the folder \SproV8i SS6\STAAD\Sections.
Mlbahim, the issue was addressed in 20.07.11.45, however, we are investigating an issue with the new Jumbo square sections. The issues relating to wide flange section and the jumbo rectangular sections have been resolved.
Is this applicable to Version 20.07.11.50? or later versions already included corrected section?
David, this issue relates specifically to the AISC 14.1 database which was only added to STAAD.Pro V8i SS6 (20.07.11.33).
I want to know if the update of the database of the sections W (available in July 2015) also applies to version Staad.pro v8i, since currently my model asks me very large sections."
