Pile check in Mat Foundation Using StaadFoundation

Hi. I am checking a Mat Foundation with Piles and I noticed that the piles are checked in all load combinations including ultimate.

How will we limit the pile check for service only?

I cannot also see the detailed calculation of pile reactions on the calculation sheet created. It just gives the summary (max reaction of all the piles). However, I want to know the maximum reaction of each pile. How will I do it?

  • The software lists the pile reactions for all cases (service and strength) but during the design of the mat, only the strength cases are considered. It does not check the piles as such. It considers those as springs and gives you the reactions which you may manually compare with your pile capacity to check the adequacy of the pile. If you just want the reactions corresponding to the service cases only, you would need to include those cases as part of the job through Job Setup > Edit Current Job.

Calculation sheet can only print the summary. If you need reactions for each pile, you may go to the Pile Reaction tab within the Output section. Select the appropriate load case as the Current Load from the combo box at the top and the table would give the reactions for all piles for the selected load case. Although you cannot include this table in the calculation sheet, but you can copy this table data to excel if you need to. To do that, click on the left top most cell named Node. The table content would highlight. Do a CTRL+C to copy, open a new file in excel , do a CTRL+V to paste the data.
