Web Tapered Members - Plate wise estimate

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have designed a Frame using web tapered members in STAAD Pro.

The frame weight shows the weight of different beams members used.

For example, the frame is having a member whose dimensions are

 Web- 250 to 750 mm

Web thickness is 6 mm

Flange sizes are 200x10 mm Top Flange and 200x6 mm Bottom flange.

Member length is 7650 mm

Its weight is shown as 372.3255 kgs ( density of steel considered as 7850)

What I need is the weight to be shown as Web Plate Wt, Top Flange Wt. & Bottom Flange Wt. as separate entities.

Can anybody help me in this problem?

  • If you created these sections using members, then I am not aware of any method to get weights of web, top and bottom flanges separately in STAAD.Pro.

However, if plate elements were used to create such section, then you would need to create 3 different load cases with selfweight loads only and assign those loads for the plates which are used for web, top flange and bottom flange. The weight of each load case (so each section part) will be reported in the Output file.
