IX calculation in staad

Sir i want to know how staad calculate Ay,Az and Ix(torsional moment of inertia) in case of Tsection.

EXAMPLE:  TSECTION given in attachement

Kindly please any one who can fill the blank box and send me the solution how it is calculated. I have many times mail to bentley but they use to give a big templete but this time i hope.

  • To get the software to calculate the values, you can define the section as shown next

    This would be good for the analysis. However if you would like the section to be designed as well, you may consider noting down the properties and defining it as user defined Tee section ( using User table as you suggested in your screenshot ).

    You can check the cross section properties by clicking on the Values button in the above screenshot or you can ask for the properties to be printed in the analysis output file by including the command PRINT MEMBER PROPERTIES LIST x in the input command file, where x represents the member number to which the property is assigned to.  



  • How can we co-relate the values in for a Tee in User provided table say Cy, Ay, Az with the parameters of prismatic Tee where we get the values in the form of YD, ZD, YB & ZB. Can you elaborate the co-relations?
