Currently using RAM analysis model to verify an existing structure prior to a a vertical expansion. Steel frame structure with one-way concrete slabs.
I cannot verify/corroborate the distributed gravity loads at at the foundation level.
Let me explain. I've reduced the model to its simplist form while trying to determine the origin of this discrepency. Currenlty it has 1 level, all self weights are neglected, the deck is assigned to the whole floor as a one-way system, the only load applied is the 100psf superimposed surface live load to the whole floor, all columns and beams are gravity elements. The floor has an assigned deck area totalling 11756sf. With a 100psf imposed live load, the total load at the base of the structure should be 1175.6k. However, I'm getting a value of 933k for my most recent iteration. I'm retrieving the base column loads from the post-processing menu in RAM Manager for "Foundation Loads" of the gravity system. Rough hand calculations of the the anticipated total load would be 1085k vs. the 1175.6k expected from RAM, so the floor plate geometry appears correct in the analysis model.
Why such a large discrepancy? Anticipated 1175k vs. 933k? I've spent nearly a day tracking loads but don't have an explantion.
Cheers.Jason

Another tip is to make all columns lateral and get the sum of the reactions from the Ram Frame Analysis log.
