Cover Plate 4.stdHi,
I am modeling a plate on STAAD Pro with a point load through a hole in the plate in the negative Y direction. I have also inputted a self weight going in the positive Z direction. After generating a finite element mesh and running the analysis, the resulting reactions do not match up with the applied force. What am I doing wrong?
The resulting reaction in Fy is 0 and the reaction in Fz is not adding up. Have I defined the reactions incorrectly?
Thanks,
Jacky
You should not assign supports to master or slave nodes. So at the location of the supports, I replaced the master slave and defined dummy rigid members instead. A revised model is attached for your reference.

In general if you need to define supports at the master/slave nodes, you should use dummy rigid members in lieu of master/slave.
