I would like to know how the shear design is done (not punching shear). I am using Eurocode 2. My question is: where is it checking the shear capacity? According to the EC it should be done at “d” distance from the edge of the

RE: SHEAR in RAM

Hi Adrian, can you attach your RAM Concept model and I will look at the results. Are you checking a beam or a slab?

RE: SHEAR in RAM

Hi rtully. It doesn’t fully answer my questions. Do you know how can I audit in detail: at which distance from the column is it taking VEd and the angle considered for the strut?
Is it taking the maximum shear at distance “d” or is it doing an average across a section at distance “d”? In this case, the section width is the Column strip from my “Design Strips”?
The results I get at this moment are far from the expected. Thanks!

RE: SHEAR in RAM

The RAM Concept manual notes 'Links are provided in accordance with 6.2.3 and 9.2.2. The angle is calculated as the minimum value
that can satisfy the requirement that VEd ≤ VRd,max , within the range specified in 6.2.3(2). The shear is calculated and designed for at every design strip cross section.
