When clicking Design All (In the steel beam module) it clearly states "designing all unsized beams". The problem with that is that I want it to design my sized beams as well! I applied the actual member sizes that are currently shown (w12x19, w21x44, HSS....., etc.) to all of my members, but I need them design still; camber, studs, etc. Right now the design all gives me 191 errors and almost every single one is "not enough studs" because it did not design my composite beams that I gave a size.
Applying a size is not designing a member, everything else still needs to be determined, the loads figure out and the cambers and studs assigned. I however, do not want to have to click every one of my members, scroll around the correct member size and then click analyze, update database for 100 members; shouldn't that be the intent of the Design All button?
Thank you for any tips or tricks that help me.
"Design All" normally does design composite action and set camber for members with user assigned sizes. That's why we allow the user to take two kinds of actions, assigning a size and freezing the design (which is the same as clicking Update Database). In your case, it sounds like the sizes are not just set, but the designs are also frozen. An easy fix for this is Ram Steel Beam module - Process - Clear Designs - All. Clear sizes, on the other hand, clears everything (camber, studs, opening reinforcement and assigned size).
If the beams are not assigned to be composite, then you won't get composite design with studs. Check or fix that in Modeler using Layout - Beams - Change Properties.
Did your beams get this way from an import from ISM or some other process?
