modeling a portal frame in staad

From the sketch shown on page 8 of the PDF you attached, it seems that the load flow is from the "portal frame rafter" (PRF) to the "portal frame column" (PRC) to the "rigid frame" (RF) through the "stitch bolts" (SB).

You could model the PRC and the RF as a series of vertical segments with the breaks occurring at the elevation of each SB. Use the RIGID type of master slave links to rigidly connect the segments of the PRC to those of the RF. So, each SB is mathematically represented through a rigid link.

thanks for the reply kris. i think that's a good idea. Thanks also for being keen on the drawing and you found the right drawing. I don't know what happened in the attachment, maybe due to blocking activities by our IT. I tried to replace the attachment but it's not working.
