hi
how can i see the local axis of member in the Modelling mode graphically.
we are using z Up Command and local axis of member are differing from usual member axis.
so we need to graphically see for each orientation of member what is the local axis.
is there any command for this.
To view the local axis orientation of Beam/Plate in GUI, you need to switch on Beam/Plate orientation from View >> Structure Diagrams… >> Labels. Alternatively you can also use the following hot-keys from your keyboard-
“Shift + O” for Beam Orientation & “Shift + T” for Plate Orientation.
The colour code is—
Local X – Blue
Local Y – Red
Local Z – Green
RAJAT
WHAT THE COLOUR CODING YOU SAID IS COMMON TO ALL LOCAL AXIS RIGHT???. WHY LOCAL AXIS IS DIFFERENT FROM GLOBAL AXIS DIRECTION???
For any member, the color coding of local axis system is same. Local axis system is determined on basis of how the member is created in the 3D space. For example, consider a member oriented in 3D space in such a way that there is a inclination with each global axis. In such case, global axis and local axis system is different. Positive local X axis is determined how the member is created, from start towards the end node. Right hand rule may be applied to obtain the positive directions of the local Y and Z axes. Go through section G4.2 and G4.3 of help manual for more details about local axis system and relation with global axis.
