Hi, I'm new to STAAD and am attempting to use the post processing design function. I have a couple of queries about the design parameters and how to set these.
First query concerns the method of calculation for Mb. Two options are given, either use of Mbs (as for a simple column), or use of appendix B. However, neither seems appropriate for normal beams as Mbs uses a set slenderness of 0.5L/ry and the appendix B clause noted is for haunches or tapered members?
Second query is how to limit the checks made.I have set up two design briefs, one for ULS checks where the deflection ratio is set to 0.00 (so deflection is ignored) and one for SLS where I am trying to select only the deflection parameter for checking by use of the green button and the unselecting everything but deflection...but this doesn't seem to work as bending and compression checks are still carried out?
