If can meaning plates can carry shear force and axial forces?
Because I'm designing residential and client want as soon as possible they want column should same width of a hollow blocks let say

RE: Staad Plates (axial and shear force)

RCDC is only INDIAN CODE, I know only moment does plate can design. But this can be done too by getting the maximum stress acting in the plates and just do manual calculation for the design.

RE: Staad Plates (axial and shear force)

In Staad, design of the plate element is only considered with respect to the local MX and MY moments. The axial (in-plane stress) component is not considered. You may want to use the the RCDC software where you can model and design the various irregular shape of column section.
