How can i use earthquake resisting structural members like seismic dampers and base isolators during design and analysis of a building in STAAD?
Or can I use which behaves like it?
I basically want to design and analyse earthquake resistant structure......is it possible on STAAD or something else?
In STAAD.Pro, as of now, modeling of discrete dampers or isolators is not possible. One can define spring supports for which spring damping can be defined. One can also define the material damping as part of the material definition. At the time of doing a dynamic analysis, one can then define the damping type as CDAMP ( composite damping ) which would prompt the software to compute the modal damping for the individual modes based on these material/spring damping.
