For one of my design, I need to use the Japanese channel sections. I have compared the information (especially moduli of section Zx and Zy, though other properties are matching) of Japanese channel sections with those given in the STAAD Section Database. This difference seems to quite considerable, hence I am writing this in the forum. If I am missing something, please advice me. Snapshots are included.
The quantities Zx and Zy in the section database are the Plastic Section Modulus.
You can use the "print member properties" command to view the elastic section modulus values used by STAAD.Pro. Please refer the image below ... it seems they are matching.
