Hi, I'm quite a novice user of the bentley software,
I was wondering is there a particular method in one of the software packages (ideally staad - as i'm most comfortable with that)) that would be best suited to modelling a wire support system which will likely form something that of a catenary shape.
Cables can be modeled using beam elements in STAAD.Pro. Following wiki has more information on how to assign cross sectional property to the cables
http://communities.bentley.com/products/structural/structural_analysis___design/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/22821.how-to-define-a-cable-section
You should use the Advanced Nonlinear Cable Analysis in STAAD.Pro to analyze the model.
